Beaver can be hunted in Estonia from the 1st of August to the 15th of April. The hunt can be done with a rifle, bow, and arrow or with dogs. The most effective beaver hunt is usually in the spring after the ice has melted. Then the beavers become more active and often go out of their nesting huts in search of fresh food after a long winter. In addition, nature has not yet blossomed and visibility on the banks of rivers and streams is much better than, for example, in August or September.
Hunting is usually held from the heights which are close to the beaver nesting huts or from the ground near the places where the feed.
